I told you she may have misread that. Happy but not sober Anne

It`s not that moth-eaten duvet, is it Doreen? You know, the one that we all borrowed in the Alps? I`m sure that was neon pink.

Oh Kathleen - surely even Dor wouldn't bring that along? You have no idea Anne - it is the most tatty, grubby, moth eaten old thing we had ever seen. Even Lyn was offended by it and, believe me, that takes some doing!

You were all very grateful for my duvet after that skinny dip in Lapland!

Ah well, Doreen, it was a case of "needs must." That does remind me, though, of Jean going off to explore the inside of an igloo.............................. Wasn`t that where she got that smelly hat she sometimes wears?

Didn't we agree it's best not to mention that igloo again? ......

I think that Lyn's scissors may have been responsible for the state of Doreen's tatty duvet. I think that I got a verruca last time I sheltered under it in Blackpool. Venice sounds great. I will bring the vienetta as well as my special cake. Doreen and Lyn really should replace the pernod as they always seem to be around when it disappears! What to do about Julie. If she appears in that green flimsy we know there will be trouble ahead! Nice to know that the darned snake will not be coming but I will miss the St Bernard as his flask revived me after the shock of finding the empty pernod bottle. Now what about the ceilidh band Kathleen? We need seranaded when on the gondola and I couldn't take any more of Jean and Ann dueting.

Oooh yes, Eleanor, I can bring the ceilidh band - as you say, we can`t have Jean & Ann caterwauling as we glide down the Grand Canal. Will there be special ingredients in your vienetta? Surely Julie won`t bring out the green flimsy again? Venice is a bit more upmarket than Blackpool, and the pigeons in St.Mark`s Square are very attracted to green shiny material. They`ll be swooping all over her, especially when she starts throwing out her budgie seed. I think you probably did get the verucca from Doreen`s duvet - Jean & I were itching for weeks after we`d been under it. I dare say I could bring the St. Bernard, purely for emergencies of course. I hope someone can bring a life-belt, as someone is bound to fall out of the gondola - probably Doreen, because she`ll be wanting the gondolier to rescue her, sadly, she`s become quite the exhibitionist - I blame Jean`s influence.

Well, I thought it was supposed to be for Valentine`s Day, so it will be a belated trip now - I TOLD Doreen she was taking far too long to get ready, and Jean apparently got "lost" on the way to the airport. She said she`d popped into a pub for a pre-flight drink, and lost track of time =- more likely she lost track of the number of drinks. Thankfully I`ve been able to re-arrange things, so we are due to head out on March 1st. Bring your cake along Eleanor - it will be well-matured by then - which is more than can be said for those nameless ladies you mentioned. I`m not sure Julie`s knitted life-belt will do the trick, but I`ll have a go if you will. In any case, it will probably be the more badly-behaved ones who will fall overboard and need it - you and I are far too genteel for that. Don`t forget the date.

Haven`t found Jean yet? She should be quite easy to spot in that sequinned mini-dress with all those tassels. Anyone not at the airport by 5pm on March 1st will be left behind. We`ll use Manchester Airport as they have the most sophisticated scanners - Lyn`s scissors will surely be picked up there.

purple stripe!!! I really do need to take my scissors, they go everywhere with me. Thought I might practise some of my new designs using Eleanor's cake. What d'ya think guys? You will all be fighting to be first in the queue when you see the new ideas! But sorry to disappoint ... I did promise Eleanor she could be the first model this time. Kathleen, "in any case, it will probably be the more badly-behaved ones who will fall overboard", I am adamant I'm not going skydiving, tandem or otherwise, unless I am assured I can be tightly attached to Colin Firth. Is the big dog and his barrel coming?

You really need to pay more attention Julie - we`re going to Venice. Please don`t even think about climbing up the Bridge of Sighs - we don`t want you slipping and falling into the Grand Canal. Lyn - we all took a vote on this and we have declared you a "security risk." I`m sorry, but we didn`t really have much option. Jean was very fond of her "go-faster purple stripe," and was devastated when you scissered it out. Eleanor is still having counselling after what you did on our last trip - she`s only just begun to go out without a hat. The dog won`t be coming - after the way you attacked his lovely tail I`m not letting him anywhere near you. It cost me a fortune in vet`s fees. Eleanor - please don`t let Lyn any where near the cake, she could do a lot of damage. Doreen - please try not to be late : if you must plaster your face then allow enough time to do it.
